Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 - Service Pack 1

Microsoft has released Office 2010 Service Pack 1 and it includes a few fixes and updates for Microsoft PowerPoint. There are 19 fixes included for PowerPoint in SP1.

Presenter View

The default behavior for Presenter View in SP1 is to use the secondary monitor (which will almost always be your projector) for the slide show and display your notes on the primary monitor (which is usually your PC or laptop).  This could certainly be done before, but now it's the default behavior - so you're less likely to have to fiddle with it in front of your audience.

Also SP1 fixes an issue where the mouse pointer could disappear after you select "Second Monitor" on the Show On list.

Media

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 SP1 fixes an issue where audio or video media created on a Mac might not play back properly on a Windows-based computer.

Also an issue where EMF-format images don't display properly when you save a slide as an EMF file and then print it in high resolution.

Miscellaneous Fixes

  • SP1 now includes the PowerPoint Viewer when you do a "Package for CD" to distribute your slide deck.
